Honoring the Life and Legacy of Josiah Jahi Elstak ~ Chef Stak

It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin, and friend, Josiah Jahi Elstak ~ Chef Stak, on July 4, 2026.

A gifted executive chef with an extraordinary work ethic, Josiah recently relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue his dream of advancing his culinary career. He was passionate about his craft and determined to make his mark among the generation of talented Black male chefs. Every opportunity he pursued was fueled by a desire to build a brighter future, not only for himself, but for those he loved most.

Above all else, Josiah was a devoted father. His greatest source of pride and joy was his beautiful two-year-old daughter. He worked tirelessly with one goal in mind: to create a life filled with opportunity, love, and security for her. He often spoke about the legacy he wanted to leave, a legacy defined not only by his accomplishments in the kitchen, but by the example he set as a caring, hardworking, and devoted father.

His sudden passing has left his family heartbroken and facing the overwhelming emotional and financial burden of planning a funeral while grieving an unimaginable loss. We want to give him the dignified and heartfelt send-off he deserves, but unfortunately, the financial burden of funeral expenses is overwhelming for our family during this already challenging time. We are asking for your support to help alleviate the cost of his funeral and memorial services, allowing his family to focus on celebrating his life rather than the financial strain that accompanies such a tragic loss. Any funds raised beyond funeral expenses will help establish a trust for his young daughter, ensuring his love and legacy continue to support her future, while also creating a memorial scholarship in his honor to inspire and assist the next generation of Black men pursuing careers in the culinary arts.

No gift is too small, and every act of kindness makes a meaningful difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you honor Josiah’s memory by sharing this campaign with your family, friends, and community.

Thank you for standing with our family during this incredibly difficult time. Your generosity, prayers, and words of encouragement remind us that Josiah’s life, kindness, and love touched so many people. Together, we can help ensure that his legacy lives on.

With sincere gratitude,

The Family of Josiah Jahi Elstak ~ Chef Stak
